Writer/Director Kevin Smith was born and raised in Highlands, New Jersey. He studied at the Vancouver Film School for four months before embarking on his feature film debut, Clerks. The quirky, ultra-low budget film about two New Jersey convenience store workers earned rave reviews and international acclaim, and quickly became an underground cult hit. He portrays Silent Bob in the film, a role he reprised in Mallrats, Dogma, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, and Clerks II. Other films he has acted in include Chasing Amy, Cop Out, Red State, Tusk, Holidays, and Yoga Hosers. Smith has also written several books, including Silent Bob Speaks, My Boring Ass Life: The Uncomfortably Candid Diary of Kevin Smith, and Jay and Silent Bobs Blueprints For Destroying Everything. Aside from acting, Kevin has also worked as a writer in the film industry and journalism. He is a contributor at Arena Magazine. He has written several books as well, including Silent Bob Speaks, My Boring-Ass Life, and Jay and Silent Bobs Blueprints for Destroying Everything.
